Bourne Outdoor Pool marks summer solstice with early morning swim

An outdoor pool celebrated the summer solstice with an early morning swim.

Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool in Abbey Lawns invited people to have a swim - at 4.30am on Tuesday (June 21).

About 80 people came for a dip in the pool and to catch the early sunrise on the longest day.

It is the second time the pool has held the event.

Mandy Delaine Smith, chairman of the charity that runs the pool, said: “The event was very successful.

“A lot of people are turning out and supporting us now there’s warm weather which is great.”

The pool reopened for the summer season last month.
