Contemporary fine dining restaurant The Dovetail opens in Oakham High Street
Rutland is set to enjoy a new dining experience as The Dovetail takes flight in the centre of Oakham.
Located in the High Street in Oakham, The Dovetail specialises in contemporary fine dining with a big, rural heart. From bottomless brunch through to exquisitely prepared a la carte options, The Dovetail offers the perfect setting to make any time of day special.
Award-winning head chef, Ryan Dunn, has used the very best fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes inspired by their rural setting. Using the finest suppliers across the Midlands, including meat from Aubrey Allen and Launde Farm, The Dovetail offers a stand-out menu with the stunning interior and service to match.
Brunch guests will discover finely tuned classics, which can be paired with bottomless Prosecco, Peroni and hot drinks, offering a perfect way to start a celebratory weekend. The lunchtime menu offers flexible dining featuring light bites of twice-baked goat's cheese souffle or salt and pepper squid, salad choices with a beautifully prepared asparagus, crab and Jersey royals option, sandwiches, larger mains and a dessert section. The Dovetail also features a large stone-baked pizza oven, with freshly prepared pizzas available during the day or served in the bar in the evenings.
As evening comes the pace shifts with show-stopping dishes like rump of Launde farm lamb with goat’s cheese and rosemary dauphinoise, Savoy cabbage and lamb jus, and sautéed fillet of sea trout served with squid ink gnocchi, samphire, cauliflower and Caviar beurre blanc. The same quality of produce is used throughout the Sunday lunch menu where diners can choose from roast beef, pork belly, sea trout or miso ramen, with menu top and tailed with beautiful starters, desserts and artisan British cheese selection.
Children are also welcomed with a separate children’s menu and high chairs available.
The drinks menu features a masterfully-curated wine and champagne list alongside beautiful cocktail classics whipped up by the Dovetail’s talented mixologists – think punchy Negronis, refreshing Daiquiris and Martinis with a twist. The premium spirit selection is robust and varied with palate-pleasing tipples from around the globe.

Diners are promised an intimate ambience and warm welcome from the minute they arrive at the restaurant in Oakham, which was formerly a Wildwood Kitchen restaurant that closed last year during the pandemic.
