Talk of a nuclear power station at Rutland Water dismissed as 'untrue'

Talk of a nuclear power station being built at Rutland Water have been dismissed as 'untrue'.

Leaflets and posters have been circulated saying that EDF Energy was behind the plans.

One said that they had been granted permission by Rutland County Council to carry out geological surveys on Hambleton Peninsula for the power station called Hambleton A.

However, Rutland County Council, EDF Energy and Anglian Water all dismissed the plans.

A Rutland County Council spokesman, said: "You may have seen these notices around Rutland this week.

"We would like to assure residents that this is untrue and there are no plans for a nuclear reactor in Rutland.

"Please remember fly posting is an offence."
