Dickie bows, dresses and croquet mallets were out in force as Barnsdale Gardens hosted its first county-wide croquet tournament.
The event took place on Wednesday last week and featured teams from Barnsdale Hall, Barnsdale Lodge, Stamford Tourist Information Centre, Oakham’s Victoria Hall, Rutland Caravan and Camping and Barnsdale Gardens.
The teams were competing for the art-deco style Barnsdale Anniversary Cup to mark the gardens’ 30th anniversary.
The winning team was Barnsdale Hall Hotel and players were presented with a trophy from the High Sheriff of Rutland Trish Ruddle.
Visitors on the day also tried their hand at croquet between matches and enjoyed afternoon tea and cake.
Catherine Hamilton of Barnsdale Gardens said: “It was lovely to get so many of our friends from the tourist industry together and I think our visitors really enjoyed seeing something different.”
