A dance team will travel to Liverpool this weekend to compete in the national final of the Can You Dance competition.

The teenagers are pupils at Welland School of Dancing where they have spent six months perfecting their routine for the competition.

The dancers are Freya Briggs, Amelia Hubbard, Hannah Mahon, Eleanor Leadbeater, Marianne Vié, Georgia Richardson, Posie Nelms, Meg Snow, Sasha Robinson, Jade Cox, Josephine Vié and Lucy Wouldham.

The lyrical jazz performance was put together under the guidance of their teacher Charley May, who trained at Welland herself from the age of four.

School spokesman Debbie Shuttleworth said: “Charley has brought a new dynamic to the team and we’re so proud of what she has achieved.

“The girls are beside themselves with excitement.

"They are fabulous and have had to reach an extremely high standard to get this far.”
