A former prison site in Rutland has been brought back to life for the filming of multi-award winning series, This is England.
The former Ashwell Prison site that has recently been re-developed as Oakham Enterprise Park, played host to the cast and crew of This is England ‘90, last week.
Film company, Warp Films productions, filmed a number of scenes at the former prison site in Oakham, starting on Thursday last week.
Commissioned by Channel 4, the film will be the last in the series of the This is England saga, directed by Nottingham based film director, Shane Meadows.
The series previously set in the 80s - the era of the Mods, New Romantics, and Skinheads, will conclude with a four-part series in 2015, set two years after the events of This is England ‘88.
The cast will bring back a number of famous names including Vicky McClure who won a Bafta for Best Actress in 2011 and former Emmerdale actor, Joseph Gilgun.
This is England was released in cinemas back in 2006 and won multiple awards, including the BAFTA for Best British Film and the BIFA for Best British Independent Film.
Since then Shane has gone on to produce a four-part television series, This is England ‘86 which aired on Channel 4 in 2010, followed by This is England ‘88 a three-part mini series in 2011.
Channel 4 confirmed that This is England has been filming scenes in Oakham for their last ever series that is due to be aired next Autumn.
