GCSE results 2021: pupils at Uppingham Community College celebrate superb results

A principal has spoken of his pride in pupils for overcoming a tricky time in teaching and learning to gain good GCSE results.

Uppingham Community College principal Ben Solly said: "We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our pupils, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year.

"They faced challenges like never before, but remained resilient and determined to achieve their very best."

He spoke of the teenagers' perseverance, resoluteness and continued dedication to study.

"The results they have achieved today are incredible, particularly when you consider the obstacles they have faced," he added.

"Our pupils have worked incredibly hard and they fully deserve these excellent outcomes."

Mr Solly also highlighted the achievements of the pupils who overcame significant adversity to gain their GCSE results, "demonstrating determination and so much courage".

Pupils who achieved 10 grades 9 or 8 were: Tilly Bisp, Rebecca Cullen (all grade 9s), Kai Geere, Emma Saunders and Madeleine Shepherd.

Those who gained nine grades 9 or 8 were: Cora Coyle, Cooper Geere, Freya Morris, Julius Swinfen-Cranney and Lydia Whatton.
