Catalytic converter and number plate thefts reported in Stamford and Rutland

Police are asking people to question people spotted underneath cars.

A Toyota Yaris car in Caithness Road, Stamford, had its catalytic converter taken sometime before Friday last week, and the numberplate of a motorbike in Warrenne Keep, Stamford, was found to have been stolen on Saturday.

Catalytic converters have also been taken from cars in Greetham, Oakham and Manton.

Sgt Paul Kear from Rutland police said: "If you see someone under a car, give us a call.

"People don't really work on their cars themselves these days, so you've got to ask yourself, why would someone be under a vehicle?"

To speak to police call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
