Yellow weather warning for Friday issued by the Met Office

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued across the county later this week.

The warning was issued by the Met Office yesterday, with slow-moving thundery downpours predicted on Friday, August 6.

The Met Office say there is a small chance this could lead to homes and businesses being flooded, with damage to some buildings from flood water.

They also stated that where flooding or lightning strikes occur, delays and some cancellations to train and bus services could occur.

Road closures and challenging driving conditions are possible.

The yellow warning covers 10am until 11.59pm on Friday.

The Met Office also released a yellow weather warning for today, with heavy showers expected to take place in the East Midlands between 12pm and 9pm..

The flooding of a few homes and businesses have been touted as possible.

Met officials also say that there may be some interruption to power supplies, and that bus and train services could be affected.
