Thurlby Fen Vintage Day is a roaring success
The sun was shining at this year’s Thurlby Fen Vintage Day, bringing out the crowds for a day of farming fun.
Visitors from across the area enjoyed a beautiful summer’s day out in the countryside, getting up close with old farming machinery, along with watching them work the land.
From old binders to a threshing drum, there was plenty of farming machinery for all to enjoy. Along with the opportunity to watch a shire horse in action.
Organiser, Andy Wyer said: “The event went very well this year, we were so lucky with the weather. Lots of people turned up and the field was very busy.
“We tried to make the event more family friendly this year and included games for the children, along with the chance to meet some foals.”
The annual event, which raises money for charity at each event, received a total of £1,746 in donations. “We’re delighted,” said Andy.
The money will be handed over to its chosen charity this year, Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Andy is hopeful that they will continue to run the event year on year. He would like to say a big thank you to the Hallam family who offer their field for the event.
