Parking bays in Oakham Market Place to be restored

Parking bays which were ditched to make more room for pedestrians during the pandemic are to be restored on Monday (January 11).

Changes were made in July last year to the number of spaces in Oakham Market Place, along with the introduction of a temporary one-way system around the square.

They were requested by Oakham Town Council and the independent community group 4Oakham to create more room for people to sit outside The Whipper Inn and Lord Nelson pubs - made more necessary because of social distancing. It was also hoped to encourage outdoor dining, and increase space for pedestrians.
