Bourne Town Football Club volunteers unhappy as the JJ Mac Stadium at the Abbey Lawn is vandalised

Volunteers at a town's football club have spoken of their disbelief after vandals have caused damage to the stadium and pitch.

Bourne Town's JJ Mac Stadium at the Abbey Lawns has had the goal nets, pitch and hosepipe damaged with graffiti appearing on the stand and clubhouse.

Youths have been seen climbing over the gate to get in.

Steve Elger, the co-chairman of the club, said this had been going on for some time and the perpetrators should know they are not allowed in.

He added: "We are all unpaid volunteers who give up our time and energy for the football club after we have done a days work.

"We have got a great committee but the last thing we need is to be clearing up after these people before we get on with the task that we go down there for."
