Doors to a village pub reopened to punters last night (Friday, July 22).

The Five Bells in Edenham reopened under new ownership with plenty of drinkers there to raise a glass.

Darren Mitchell, owner of the pub, and his wife, Mitsy, chose to open on this day as a celebration to mark their fifth wedding anniversary.

Darren Mitchell, owner of the pub, said: “It’s been really good so far, we have had a lot of lovely feedback.”

Darren and his family have been busy over the past month, restoring the pub to transform it back into a traditional place.

A variety of nights are scheduled to take place over the next few months with something for everyone, including quiz nights, bike nights and themed food nights.

“It is a family-friendly traditional pub for the residents to enjoy,” Darren said.

It has always been a dream for him to open up a pub, and while he is nervous about his new venture, Darren said he is still looking forward to seeing what will happen.

Classic pub meals will be served along with all the usual wines, spirits and ales.

Along with a beer garden for warmer days, a large seating area at the bar is available.
