Driver trapped in car for an hour after accident near Stretton

A woman has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after being trapped in her car for an hour following a head-on collision with a van near Stretton.

The accident happened on the B668 behind the Ram Jam happened at about 11.45am today (Friday).

The woman was released from the wreckage of her car by the fire service.

Doctors from East Midlands Immediate Care Service, know as Emics, Dr Leon Roberts and Dr Tim Gray were the first medics on the scene. After assessing the situation they called for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance which took the woman driver of the car to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The woman was in a stable condition when she left the scene. The driver of the van and the passenger in the car were assessed at the scene.

Delays are in place on the A1 northbound while the vehicles are recovered.
