Man killed in car crash on A47 near Tixover named as Iain MacDonald from Uppingham

4pm: Police have named the man who died in a car accident near Tixover.

Iain MacDonald, 47, of Uppingham, died when his red Toyota MR2 Roadster was involved in a collision with a green Vauxhall Astra on the A47, near the junction with the A43, at about 4.30pm on Friday.

The driver of the Vauxhall Astra received serious injuries and was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, where he remains in a stable condition.

Det Con Kath Orr, who is investigating the incident, said: “The Vauxhall Astra was travelling along the A47 towards Peterborough and the Toyota was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred, less than a mile before the junction with the A43.

“If you were travelling along this road around 4.30pm on Friday and witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand we would urge you to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 and ask to speak to DC 4406 Kath Orr.
