Drivers will have to deal with diversions around Stamford town centre next week as resurfacing work is carried out.
Lincolnshire County Council will completely resurface Star Lane on Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting.
Traffic will be diverted via St Paul’s Street, East Street, North Street, Scotgate, Crown Street, Red Lion Street and Broad Street. To keep traffic moving a one way system will be in place on Red Lion Street and Crown Street. Motorists will be unable to park on Red Lion Street and St Paul’s Street.
The council hopes to complete the work in time for market day on Friday.
Area highways manager Kevin Brumfield said: “Star Lane will be closed on both days to allow us to repair patches of the road before we completely resurface it.
“We need the road clear of traffic and parked vehicles to protect the public and our workforce.
“We hope to complete our work swiftly by 5pm on Thursday, so we can reopen the road in time for motorists to get to the Friday Market.”
The footpaths will be open for people to use as normal. Residents and businesses have been told about the work.
