The main road between Stamford and Bourne will be closed for four days next week while resurfacing work takes place.
The A6121 at Carlby is set for a new road surface with work starting on Monday.
During the works a full road closure will be in place.
Weather permitting the road will be re-opened to traffic at 6pm on Thursday. The road will remain closed overnight.
Lincolnshie County Council highways manager Kevin Brumfield said: “We are carrying out these works to prevent the need for further temporary work.
“We are working below the road surface before we resurface it. Motorists will notice better driving conditions for road users.”
Traffic will be diverted via the: A151, A15, A1175 and the A6161.
Motorists in Bourne using Queen’s Bridge in Eastgate also face minor delays while Lincolnshire County Council continue to replace the bridge.
Work started on July 15 and is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
