Uppingham Town Football Club mourns the loss of its chairman Richard Kendrick
Tributes have been paid to a long-standing supporter of Uppingham Town Football Club.
It was announced on Saturday that Richard Kendrick has died following a battle with cancer.
A statement issued by the club said: "Uppingham Town Football Club is deeply saddened to announce that our long-standing clubman/chairman Richard Kendrick has passed away after a long and courageous battle.
"The club has lost a great man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and to Uppingham Town Football Club.
"Our thoughts are with Richard's wife Sandra, family and friends at this time of loss."
Richard had been involved with the club for 50 years and received an award this season for services to football by the Peterborough League.
Director of Uppingham First, Ron Simpson, said: "I knew Richard through the football club as he was its long-standing champion, and through his outstanding workmanship on renovating The Falcon Hotel.
"Uppingham has benefited hugely from his skill-set and community leadership. The town owes him a great debt."
