Two men arrested on M1 following attempted thefts from shops and businesses in Stamford




Two men have been arrested following a series of offences on Monday in the Stamford and Bourne areas.

The men were traced by investigating officers and arrested the following evening on the M1 by Northamptonshire Police.

Incidents under investigation included an attempt robbery of a mobile phone from a 12-year-old boy in Churchill Avenue, Bourne, an attempted theft at a financial advisor’s in Ironmonger Street, Stamford, and an attempted burglary at the Welland School of Dance in nearby Broad Street.

An attempted theft also took place in St Paul’s Street, Stamford, and the theft of a phone from a property in the same street.

Reports of attempted sexual assaults at McDonald’s on the A15/A17 roundabout near Sleaford were also being investigated.Two men are believed to have tried to get young teenage girls to kiss them.

Suspicious activity was also reported at the Toft House Hotel in Lound Road, Bourne and the George Hotel in Stamford.
