Two teenagers assaulted in Oakham

Two teenagers have been assaulted in Oakham town centre with one slashed with a knife.

The pair were walking along High Street with a group of friends on Friday (April 26) at around 8.30 pm when they were approached by the occupants of two cars that had just pulled up before the assault.

A 17-year-boy sustained slash wounds to his hand and arm and the second victim, also a 17 year-old boy, was punched in the face.

He did not require hospital treatment.

Two 17-year-old youths and a 19-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assault and have all been released under investigation.

PC Joe Lloyd of Oakham Police said the arrests were made on Saturday (April 27) afternoon after work from Rutland, Market Harborough and Melton Mowbray officers.

He also said the suspects were not from Rutland.

The investigation is ongoing into the assaults, which are being treated as an isolated incident, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 19*212681.
