UPDATE: Appeal for witnesses after young boy hit by car in High Street, Oakham

4.30pm: Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a three-year-old boy was hit by a car in Oakham.

The boy was hit at about 2pm yesterday (Monday) at the pelican crossing outside Walkers book shop in High Street.

The boy was taken to Peterborough City Hospital as a precaution but was not seriously hurt.

The road was closed for several hours afterwards.
