All train lines through Peterborough were blocked after the sudden death of a man between Huntingdon and the city this morning.

Police were called at 7.45am with reports of a sudden death at a level crossing in Holme Fen, near Yaxley.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: We were called to the line near Long Drove in Holme, to reports of a body on the line.

“Colleagues from Cambridgeshire Constabulary and East of England Ambulance Service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are now working to identify him and inform his family.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Lines have now reopened and trains have begun to move, but National Rail reported that delays of up to 90 minutes lasted until around 1pm.
