UPDATE: Two buildings and a digger damaged in Skillington fire

Two buildings, a mechanical digger and a large quantity of lumber and wood chippings were damaged in a fire yesterday.

Firefighters from Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire were sent to the incident in Skillington, near Grantham, at 4.42pm.

Crews spent several hours tackling the fire. According to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue service, there was fire damage to large quantity of lumber, wood chippings, a digger, one timber-framed building and one steel-framed building.

The cause of the fire is said to have been accidental. All emergency crews have now returned to base and control of the scene has been handed over to the owner.
