UPDATED: Oakham crash leaves four injured

A woman had to be airlifted to hospital and three more were taken to hospital after being injured in a four-car crash in Oakham on Sunday (November 18).

Emergency services raced to the scene of the smash between a Ford Focus and Honda Jazz and two more vehicles, at around 11am on Burley Park Way, near to the Rutland Showground.

Fire crews from Oakham and Melton Mowbray cut two people from each car out and the woman was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry with non life-threatening and non life-changing injuries.

East Midlands Ambulance service said in a statement: "We received a call at 11 am on November 18 to the A606 in Oakham.

"The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision between four vehicles.

"We sent three ambulances, a fast response vehicle, a doctor and the air ambulance.

"Two patients were taken to Coventry and Walsgrave Hospital - one by helicopter and one by ambulance.

"Two further patients were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottinghamshire by ambulance."
