UPDATED: Police warning after horse gets loose on A1
A three-vehicle collision on the A1 in which a horse got loose resulted in serious traffic delays.
Lincolnshire Police said the collision on Monday, October 8, involved two cars and a lorry.
"The lorry has driven from the scene following the collision," said a police spokesman, adding that only "minor" injuries had been suffered by those involved.
"Alternative transport has been provided for the horse and one lane is now open."
Both lanes of the northbound carriageway have been opened but police have warned that traffic queues still need to clear.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 145 of 08/10/20.
Motorists using the A1 near Colsterworth had earlier been advised to drive with extra caution in the area after the horse had got loose.
In a tweet issued shortly after 12.30pm, Lincolnshire Police said the A1 northbound was experiencing delays following the collision.
"Please be warned that a horse trailer was involved resulting in the horse now being loose," police tweeted.
"This is obviously a potential hazard and drivers are asked to exercise extra caution."
