Uppingham community produces the goods at annual fete
The Uppingham community turned out in force to support a produce and craft show brimming with creativity and colour.
The town’s annual fete, flower and produce show took place on Tod’s Piece on Sunday.
Fantastic weather helped ensure a huge turnout. The playing field was lined with trades stands, food and drink stalls and children’s entertainment, plus energetic displays from a Viking troupe and Uppingham School Sports Centre.
Corby Silver Band entertained the crowds alongside host, Rob Persani.
The poor pre-show summer weather had a slight effect on the numbers of produce entries, but people turned their talents instead to handicrafts and photography, with more than 90 exhibits in these classes.
Vet Jonathan Crosher had a tough job judging the seven classes in the popular fun dog show sponsored by Thorpe-by-Water Kennels. This year best in show winner was Emily with her dog with George.
Committee chairman Nikki Jervis paid tribute to the generosity of Uppingham’s businesses who donated raffle prizes and sold schedules on the run-up to the show. She also thanked friends of the committee who provided much-needed help to make the day the great success it was and of course, to everyone who came to support the afternoon.
