Harry Potter topic begins at Colsterworth Primary School

A village school transformed into the magical world of Hogwarts last week to kickstart a new topic inspired by the Harry Potter books.

Pupils and staff in Faraday and Hawking classes at Colsterworth Primary School dressed in robes and hats for the event on Tuesday last week.

After receiving their much anticipated tickets, the Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils stepped through Platform 9 3/4 to enter the Great Hall, adorned with the house colours of Hogwarts.

After a fully-fledged sorting ceremony, each child joined their house for a morning full of magical lessons from bubbling potions and sparkling wand making to quill and ink writing.

After meeting the school’s very own magical creature, George the miniature tortoise, the children rounded off the day with a feast of butter beer, cupcakes and chocolate frogs.

A school spokesman said: “What a wonderful dip into the wizarding world to kickstart an inspirational term of reading, writing and topic work.”
