A HOSPITAL trust is looking for volunteers in a range of different roles.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust provides services in hospitals across Leicestershire and Rutland including Rutland Memorial Hospital in Cold Overton Road, Oakham.
Volunteers can work on wards to offer support to patients and visitors, assist at mealtimes, and help with administrative tasks.
They can work in the more public areas, such as reception areas, Women’s Royal Voluntary Services, shops and kiosks, and with the hospital radio team.
Voluntary services manager Muj Rahman said: “Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and be part of a team.
“We have people who come in and greet visitors, do drinks rounds, help patients who need assistance with their food at mealtimes, take round book trolleys, organise activities for patients and help with tasks like filing and photocopying, and we are very grateful to them all.
“Volunteers learn new skills and provide that extra support to patients that makes such a difference during their hospital stay.
“Something as simple as having someone to chat to can mean a great deal to patients, some of whom can be in hospital for several weeks.”
“We need volunteers during the week, in the evenings and at weekends. We can be very flexible about when volunteers come in and just a couple of hours a week is a great help.”
Volunteers are also needed at hospitals in Ashby, Coalville, Hinckley, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Harborough and Melton Mowbray.
All volunteers follow a recruitment process which includes a criminal records check and will receive full training prior to starting work at the hospitals. They will receive a uniform and travel expenses are reimbursed.
