An intimate and individual live music, comedy and DJ venue in Stamford, has been nominated as a finalist in the Midlands Comedy Awards.
Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge in North Street, Stamford, is one of five nominees in the ‘Best Comedy Club’ category.
The Voodoo Lounge runs its own comedy club once a month and has featured some fantastic acts over the years, including Milton Jones, Gary Delaney, Jo Caulfield and Zoe Lyons. Established in 2008, ‘Voodoo Stands up’ runs September through to May and this season has been so popular that it has been extended to two nights per month - the second and last Thursday. It has also teamed up with Funhouse Comedy to bring some great acts to Stamford.
Michael Hoolihan, co-owner at Mama Liz’s, said: “I’m really pleased to see the comedy night at the Voodoo Lounge in the final five.
“Once again we are in the company of much bigger venues including Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham, so we will be up against it in the voting, but I am sure the people in the town and surrounding areas will get behind us and support us as they have done throughout our time here.”
To vote for the Voodoo Lounge in the awards, please visit the website at midlandscomedy.org.
You only have until Thursday, December 31 to place your vote.
Winners will be announced at a special Awards Show on January 20, at The Mockingbird Theatre in Birmingham.
