The White Lion pub in Whissendine has scooped the Summer 2014 Rutland Camra Pub of the Season award.
Camra is a national group that campaigns to keep real ale served in pubs. The Rutland branch was formed in 2008.
Rutland Camra Pubs Officer David Laughton presented the award to White Lion landlord Chris Stevenson and landlady Yolanda Rees. David said: “This is a popular win as the White Lion has come close on a number of previous occasions. The pub will now be entered for our Pub of the Year award, and then, if successful, onwards to regional and possibly national success.”
Chris, who recently refurbished the pub, said: “Yolanda and I are very pleased to receive the Camra award, and would like to thank Everards and all our staff for their hard work and support.
“We feel the White Lion now has the right offer of quality real ales, good honest food and comfortable homely surroundings.”
