A wildlife-lover who helps to save some of the most endangered species on the planet will receive an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Dr Vin Fleming from Bourne said he was “surprised”, “delighted” and “a little bit embarrassed” to discover he had been selected, and waited until the public announcement of the honours list today (Wednesday) to share the good news with his family.

Vin was nominated for services to the environment relating to his work with the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC). Based in City Road, Peterborough, the JNCC advises the UK Government on national and international nature conservation.
