Primary classes from Wilds Lodge School in Empingham raised £50 for charity by swimming 447 lengths of Stamford Swimming Pool during one of their swimming lessons.

Head of physical education Steve Williams said: “Considering many of our pupils were non-swimmers this time last year, they have made real progress and I’m very proud of them. Each boy contributed to the swimming total and it is a great start to our ‘Road to Rio’ campaign where as a school we are exercising our way to the Rio Olympics- 5,800 miles away.”

Mr Williams thanked Welland Valley Timber for their motivational contribution.
