William Hildyard School PTA in Market Deeping raises an impressive £20,000
A Market Deeping primary school parent teacher association is celebrating after raising a jaw-dropping £20,000 in three years.
The Parent, Teacher and Friends Association at William Hildyard C of E Primary and Nursery School, have donated the money to a new wooden pirate ship climbing frame as well as other play equipment for the school’s pupils.
Amanda Vickers, chairman, said: “It has been hard work but it’s all worth it when you see the smiles in the children’s faces.
“It’s a fair whack of money.
“We have run quite a lot of events to try and raise money for it such as fairs, bingos and discos.
“I wasn’t involved in the project when it was started but I’m led to believe that the headmistress said the play equipment wasn’t safe to use anymore.
“So we took on the challenge and raised the money for the new equipment.
“We have also got a science board for the key stage two playground where the pupils can record things like the weather and some new targets for the key stage one playground.
“The school have applied for a grant to match our total.
“Our biggest event is the Christmas fair which has just gone and we smashed last year’s amount raised with £2,871.46 so we’re delighted with
“I’d like to thank all of the parents for their support of all of our events.
“Also businesses for their support and providing things like raffle prizes.”
