School unveils a new outdoor learning area for its pupils

Witham Hall School has unveiled a new outdoor learning area.

In the presence of guests, parents, staff and pupils, headmaster, Charles Welch, along with specially chosen pupils Alessandra, Augusto and Chloe, formally opened the new Pre-Prep Outdoor Learning Area at Witham Hall School.

Mr Welch explained the reasoning behind the investment. He said: “The opening of this exciting area, underpinned by the desire to extend our outdoor and exploratory learning provision, adds a whole new dimension to our Pre-Prep. The aspirations the teaching staff had for our children has been superbly captured in the design, presenting highly engaging opportunities for sensory learning, mechanics, sound, weather, role play and physical dexterity.

“It is already clear that the current generation of children within Pre-Prep, and those of many years to come, will enjoy hours of fun, inspiration and challenge from everything the environment has to offer.”

Head of Pre-Prep at Witham Hall School Sukey Brewster welcomed the facility, adding: “After two years of us all collecting ideas and talking with the children about how they liked to learn, it was an extremely rewarding experience to see the absolute joy on the pupils’ faces this afternoon.

“I remember discussing our wish list with the designer, Lizzy Kraus, about six months ago but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would already be celebrating the opening and results would be exactly as we had envisaged. All the pupils and staff feel extremely lucky to have such a fabulous and enriching facility.”
