Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was mugged while walking home from a Stamford nightclub.

The woman, in her 40s, was walking along Cambridge Road on her way home from town centre club Brown’s in the early hours of Saturday, February 21. She was pushed to the floor by a man between 3am and 4am, suffering injuries to her face and knee. The mugger then took her purse, which fell from her bag after a scuffle. The purse contained coins and a bank card.

PC Sian Farmer, investigating, said: “We want to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or believes they have information about the offender. Similarly if you saw the woman walking home we would appreciate any information you have about where and when, as we want to get a clear idea of the timeframe within which the incident occurred.

“This was a frightening ordeal for the woman and a rare occurrence for Stamford so we hope that encourages people to come forward if they can help with the enquiry.”

Call 101 quoting incident 267 of February 21.
