Work is due to start to replace a bridge in Bourne.

Lincolnshire County Council will begin the work on the Queen’s Bridge in Eastgate, on Monday.

Work is expected to take eight weeks to complete.

The work has been scheduled because the bridge only has a 7.5 tonne vehicle weight capacity, below the European directive of a 40 tonne limit.

The bridge is also showing signs of deterioration with concrete spalling and reinforcement steel exposed.

Brick parapets will be used for the new structure.

A cycle way will be kept open and there will also be a temporary pedestrian bridge.
