Bourne Abbey Primary School hold pirate day

Reception children at Bourne Abbey school had a pirate day as part of their ‘Would you invite a pirate to tea?’ topic.

This term the children have been busy training to become a pirate, learning all the skills needed to be sea worthy pirates and on the last day of term they came to school wearing their colourful and bright pirate costumes, eye-patches, hats and hooks.

We started the day by going on an epic adventure of discovery, jumping aboard a pirate ship and setting sail in search of treasure!

Following the instructions and crafty clues the children found the treasure and enjoyed sorting and weighing the glistening gems.

Next their creative skills were showcased with their carefully made pirate hats and telescopes.

The finale was a huge sea shanty sing-a-long.

Mrs Gardner said: “Wow! What a marvellous middle to our new topic, we are looking forward to learning lots and lots more about pirates in Term 6.

"Congratulations Reception, you have completed your pirate training and are now officially pirates!”
