The annual Rotary Youth Speaks public-speaking competition has been held at Quorn Lodge Hotel.

Speaking to a packed room, teams from Catmose College, Oakham tackled such diverse topics as boys’ attitudes to education, space travel, school meals and the salaries paid to footballers and other celebrities.

The winning teams will go forward to the next round of the competition early next year, representing the Rotary Clubs of Melton Mowbray and Melton Mowbray Belvoir. Our picture shows the intermediate winning team, including Liam Bottomley – chairperson, Anand Raghavan – speaker and Sian Willard, who gave the vote of thanks.
