The air was filled with the sound of classical music on Sunday as pupils took part in a rotary club music competition.
The 20th Annual Young Musician of the year Competition organised by the Rotary Club of Bourne was held at Bourne Academy.
In the junior choir competition Bourne Abbey Primary Academy were awarded gold with Morton Church of England Songsters receiving silver.
In the junior category, for pupils age six to ten, Katie Rickett playing the flute gained gold and Molly Bull on piano silver. Cellist Molly Welling won gold and Emma Farmer, also on the cello, won silver in the intermediate category for ages 11 to 13. In the senior category, for musicians age 14 to 17, Becky Taylor and Phillip Mainwaring both were awarded gold for their violin performances. Becky was also presented with the Silverwood Trophy which is awarded in memory of the late Rotarian Mike Silverwood after being named Rotary Club of Bourne Young Musician of the Year.
Member of the rotary club organising committee Richard Wells said: “We were amazed by the level of musical talent from Bourne.
“We are very hopeful that our winners here will go forward to greater success in the regional event.”
Winners will go into the next round on February 23.
