Classic day provided great boost for air ambulance funds

Have your say

On behalf of the members of the Rotary Club of Uppingham I should like to thank the people of Uppingham and Rutland for their support of our Classics in Uppingham 2011.

I should particularly like to thank the members of The Beeches Residents Association, the WI and Uppingham First for their support, the county council and town council for their help, particularly the mayor Pete Rees for his help in setting up the Rotary Railway. It was a good day for Uppingham with many of the businesses opening up and co-operating to make this a day to remember.

Finally, without the help of the residents who kindly moved their cars, this day would not have been possible.

The winner of the first prize in the grand raffle was Tim Beck of The Firs. The event raised more than £1,300 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

Secretary, Rotary Club of Uppingham

On behalf of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, we would like to thank the people of Uppingham and everyone who gave to the street collection on September 2.

A brilliant total of £155.50 was donated during the morning. The charity needs £1.7m a year to keep flying and receives no government support and relies on this generosity throughout the year. Thanks again.
