I would like to express heartfelt thanks to Sally-Ann Waycot and all her wonderful staff at Crown House Residential Home, Oakham, for the outstanding way in which they cared for my mother during the last eleven and a half years of her life.

Although Crown House is not a Nursing Home, she was allowed to remain there and still receive the very best nursing care during her final two years. Every single member of the dedicated, professional staff has always treated her with the utmost respect, dignity and kindness throughout. I cannot find even the tiniest flaw in any aspect of this shining example of the ideal place in which to spend the final years of one’s life, from the beautiful, individual en-suite rooms to the amazing meals which offer a choice of all of the courses every day and are served in hotel-like surroundings, with beautifully laid tables, complete with fresh linen. Visitors are always offered a refreshment tray and made to feel welcome at all times. The end of life care there is radically different from the reports one hears of so many hospitals and other establishments. There is always somebody close at hand: GPs and nurses who willingly come in at the slightest request and who liaise with staff and family members at all times. The residents’ well-being and comfort during this time is second to none. Having made many visits myself in the past, as a Locum practitioner, to residential and nursing homes in an adjacent county, I can say without hesitation that Crown House is, indeed, the only place I would consider. Thank you so much.
