Letter: Worries over car park idea

Have your say

Re: The proposal to make the Wharf Road car park in Stamford short stay.

I don’t live in Stamford but I do visit the town most Saturdays and arrive at the Cattle Market at about 9am.

As I’m never sure how long I’m going to stay I pay the £3 for the day although I mostly leave about 1.30pm. By that time the car park is almost full and by the time I pull out of my space someone pulls in.

It is even worse in the summer months when there are events on The Meadows.

So if motorists are advised to use the Cattle Market car park surely there will be a need for more spaces.

What happens when the Mid-Lent Fair arrives and the Cattle Market is closed for a week?

If ever I had difficulty in parking in a long stay car park I certainly would not pay £8 to park in Stamford, much as I love the town.
