May I offer a huge thank you to all who took part in Rotary Club of Rutland’s Young Musician of the Year 2014 Competition held on Saturday.

The whole event was a delight.

Thank you to the competitors, you played and sang with such confidence it would be hard to find a winner. Thanks must go to their music teachers who encourage their young students and also to the accompanists who were so sympathetic to their needs.

However with all the accolades and thanks at the actual event there was one thank you missing.

I mean, a big bouquet should go to members of the Rotary Club of Rutland for their vision, enthusiasm and dedication for promoting such an event. It is obviously time-consuming to organise such an exciting programme. May it long continue.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind readers that Catmose College will be performing Tracey Dene Powell’s, Phantom Love-The Musical, at Curve Theatre, Leicester on February 4.

There will be a bus from Oakham, leaving at 6.15pm from Burley Road car park. So for a hassle-free visit to a nationally acclaimed local theatre contact Music and More in High Street, Oakham and book your place.

The price is just £10 which includes travel.

Please support our young musicians, you will not be disappointed.
