West Deeping games and toys business Zanypig to help schools' parents and teachers association in Helpston, Bourne, Thurlby and Uffington

A games and toys business established by three mums is supporting schools which cannot raise money in the usual ways.

Lisa Chesworth, Heather Philips and Vikki Youll met on the school run while their children were at Copthill School in Uffington, and the idea for Zanypig was born two years ago.

Having moved their sales online, they are determined to help the schools which helped them to get the business up and running.

Vikki, who lives in Bourne, explained: “We started Zanypig at school fairs, where we would take along toys and games and sell them there.

“This year schools haven’t been able to hold summer and Christmas fairs, and so they have missed out on the extra income these bring. We are a small trader, but want to give something back to the community.”

As a result, the Zanypig team, which has its base in West Deeping, is offering to give 10 per cent of the value of orders placed to a selection of schools’ parents and teachers associations (PTAs), which are usually responsible for organising school fairs.

This will allow the PTAs to purchase additional equipment to support education in their schools.

Currently, Zanypig has four schools on its list - John Clare Primary School in Helpston, Bourne Westfield Academy, Thurlby Primary School and Copthill School.

The team is also supporting Witham Hall School in Witham-on-the-Hill through a virtual Christmas fair that it is holding.

The mums are also helping people donate to the Peterborough City Hospital Breast Care Unit because they have, in previous years, attended the Ladies’ Charity Lunch in Peterborough. The event, which has been running since 2015, each year raises thousands of pounds for the unit.

People shopping at Zanypig who wish to donate 10 per cent of the value of their shopping to the Breast Care Unit can use the code PINKXMAS at the online checkout.

Codes for each of the schools are displayed in the image above.

The full range of about 150 Zanypig products can be viewed at the website www.zanypig.co.uk and people can also search ‘Zanypig’ on Facebook.
