Joe Butterworth and Mike Armstrong are the latest signings for Stamford AFC
All action duo Joe Butterworth and Mike Armstrong have become the latest additions to the Stamford ranks for the coming campaign.
New recruit Butterworth has made the switch to Stamford from their new Northern Premier League Midlands Division rivals Yaxley while Armstrong has returned to the Zeeco Stadium for a fourth successive season.
Butterworth is the son of former Daniels player Garry who enjoyed a stellar career with Peterborough United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Rushden & Diamonds, Farnborough and Kettering.
Daniels boss Graham Drury commented: "Joe played in three of the four games back in April and really impressed, not just myself and the management team but also the players.
"He's mixed in with this group and really showed that he will bring even more quality to the team.
"Joe can also play right-back and will give us cover in that area as and when needed.
"His dad was a very good player for Stamford back in the day and I know Joe will bring just as much quality as Garry did.
"He played at step four for Yaxley last season and was the stand-out player. He can't wait to get stuck in and show the Stamford fans his talent so I am chuffed to get this deal done."
The return of the popular Armstrong also delighted Drury as the utility player's future had been unclear over his plans to go travelling.
The Stamford manager explained: "I am really pleased Mikey has agreed to stay at the club.
"He was the one that I was most worried about losing as Mikey had plans to go travelling but, due to Covid, those changed and he couldn't think of a better club to spend this season with.
"As we all know, Mikey plays in a number of positions and he's always a seven or eight out of 10.
"Mikey is fantastic on the pitch and also in the dressing room. The players and fans will be pleased that he has stayed put so at least something good has come out of Covid."
Stamford have already re-signed seven members of last season squad - Cosmos Matwasa, Tendai Chitiza, Rob Morgan, Sean Wright, James Blunden, Joe Burgess and Connor Bartle - with Rodrigo Silva Goncalves a new addition.
