Ketton may have lost local cricketing legend Ajaz Akhtar on Friday but that did not stop them recording a seven wicket win over Burwell 2nds in the Cambs Premier League Tucker/Gardner Division One.

Visitors Burwell started well but solid bowling from Ulricht Van Duyker, 4-21, and Matt Milner, 3-21, saw them all out for a very achievable 124.

Ketton wasted no time in reaching the target set, top scorers for the Rutland side were Ben Bryant (65) and Rob Woolley (26) who helped them to a comfortable 125-3.

Akhtar has been a dominant force in Northants League cricket for Peterborough for almost three decades. His individual highlight was taking a competition record of 100 wickets in a 22-game season.

He will finish the season with Market Deeping.
