James Haskell, Andy Goode and Alex Goode among the players to support Stamford College Old Boys Rugby Club
Stamford College Old Boys have launched a pre-season recruitment drive that is being backed by some of game’s biggest names.
Ex-Leicester Tigers player Andy Goode, former Oakham School pupil Alex Goode - who is still playing for Saracens - and James Haskell who appeared on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here after a career playing for both Wasps and England are urging players to join the club.
Former international rugby union referee Nigel Owens is also featured in a promotional video by the club who return to pre-season training this week.
It gets underway tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7pm at Stamford Welland Academy with Old Boys running two senior sides this season.
Their first team will again be playing in Counties 3 Midlands East (South) while the club have entered a seconds side into the Merit Leagues for the first time in more than a decade.
Their campaign will feature matches against Spalding - who they meet in the league opener on September 16 - Gainsborough, Boston, Bourne, Lincoln and East Retford.
The first team’s league season also starts on September 16 with a trip to South Leicester and the club will be training every Thursday night moving forward.
