Blackstones lose to Thrapston

Blackstones terrible run continued on Saturday as they notched up their 15th game without celebrating a victory.

The last time Stones won a football match was November 15 when they beat bottom of the UCL Division One side Stewarts & Lloyds Corby 4-2.

During their barren run they have recorded three draws but three points from a possible 45 is a bad return by anyone’s standards.

On Saturday Blackstones lost 2-0 at home at Lincoln Road to Thrapston.

Dan Bucciero gave Thrapston the lead after eight minutes, punishing poor defending.

Stones’ best effort was a well struck shot from a Sean Treagus cross but Liam Fox saved well to keep his side in the lead.

Jason Taylor sealed the win for Thrapston in the 76th minute, tapping in after Stones goalkeeper Tom Clayton spilled a cross.

The only good news is that remarkably Blackstones remain in 15th in the league and relatively clear of any possible relegation concerns.

Next up is away day at sixth place club Potton United on Saturday.

Blackstones: Tom Clayton, Sean Treagus, Nathan Fryar, Andy Salter, Seb Hood, Rob Dunn, Ben Moore, Pete Smith (Glen Longden), Marcus Dowman, Sam Thorpe, Owen Uglow (Kieran Hart).
