Blackstones showed no signs of rustiness on Saturday despite having not played a match for two weeks.

Stones beat visiting Irchester United 4-2 at Lincoln Road to end the visitors’ winning run at three games in the UCL Division One.

However it was Irchester who got off to the better start and they took the lead in just the second minute through a free kick from Ryan Lovell.

The lead was short lived and three minutes later Jacob Smitheringale pulled Blackstones level.

Dan Evans then put the home side in front on the half hour mark.

Just like the first half Irchester caught Stones cold again and struck early after the break through Lovell.

He tucked away a cross from Dave Miles cross a minute into the second half to tie the match at 2-2.

However in the 70th minute Matt Simpson put Stones ahead and four minutes later Addie Staffieri sealed the victory with his side’s fourth of the afternoon.

Next up for Blackstones is the visit of Lutterworth Athletic on Saturday, 3pm ko, before travelling to Thrapston Town on Tuesday next week.

Blackstones: Lee Crockett, Adam Sparks, Matt Simpson, Jacob Smitheringale, Jack Salt, Scott Ginty, Jones De Sousa, Nicky Butler (Carl Griffiths), Dan Evans (Calum Parker), Addie Staffieri, Jordan Avis (Sam Strange).
