Athletes from Bourne were racing for Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire at the Inter-County Championships at Birmingham at the weekend.
Among the local Nene Valley Harriers taking part was Bradley Allan, who ran the U13 boys race for the second year running, improving from 225th to 101st.
Despite being called up to run at the last minute from the reserves. Bradley was second among the eight Lincolnshire runners.
Running for Cambridgeshire in the U13 girls race, Emma Gibbs showed great promise for the future with a fine 139th.
Three local lads competed in the U15 boys race with Cameron Marshall having his best race of the season, crossing the line 142nd and second for Lincolnshire. Damian Rutherford, running for Cambridgeshire, showed that triathlon training is not hindering his running by finishing 199th, while Will Baker handled his first big occasion well to cross the finish in 251st.
Billy Mugnier and James McCrae both moved up an age group this year and were both rewarded with very promising results - Billy 143rd and James 157th.
Amy Gibbons also moved up to the U17 category and finished higher than last year while scoring for the Lincolnshire team.
